So we made our way to Fremington to see what this running malarkey would entail!\u003cbr\u003eThere were five of us at that first run: Sarah Crocker, Neil Crocker, Celestine Youings, Mandy Robinson \u0026 Megan Chaplin.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe didn\u0027t really know each other, but Frank soon had us chatting and laughing. I can remember warming up in the school car park and then run/walking out to the Yelland straight. We ran to the first lamp post and walked to the next. Lisa in true Lisa style said that Rob (her husband) would create a logo for our tee shirts.\u003cbr\u003eFrank suggested that we also had \u0022ChemoHero\u0022 on our tee shirts to show our support for the local charity, which Lisa had founded two years previously.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe tee shirts were taken to Brandit in Barnstaple and printed up.\u003c/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003cimg src=\u0022https://www.fremingtontrailblazers.co.uk/Client/Images/Cms/image(305).png\u0022 data-image=\u00221\u0022\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHow proud we were running between those lamp posts along the Yelland straight, sporting our new club tee shirts!\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAfter Christmas, following on from his success with us, Frank started another beginners group. He continued coaching us and running the new beginners group. It\u0027s always been a joke that the newest beginners were his favourite group!\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eI honestly can\u0027t remember how many beginners groups have been put through the couch to 5k training, but I do remember the first time the Trailblazers entered the \u0022relays\u0022.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis is a local inter-club competition with three or four runners to a team. The aim was to win and gain points for your team in your category. I think this was probably quite a serious competition before the Trailblazers had any involvement in it!\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe were put into mixed ability groups and told to have fun. Because we didn\u0027t have a lot of runners, many had to run twice and sometimes three times in different categories in order to make up the teams.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWe came last in all the categories, but we had made ourselves known to the other running clubs in North Devon as the friendliest, noisiest, most fun club to belong to.
